Fowey is a small town & cargo port at the mouth of the River Fowey in south Cornwall.
Fowey is situated on the west bank of the River Fowey on the south coast of Cornwall between Looe and Mevagissey. Designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Fowey has a unique charm which holds a special fascination for visitors of all ages.
Quaint cottages, narrow steep winding streets with glimpses of the shimmering river below, busy with yachts and boats; cobbled walkways perfumed with flowers from hanging baskets and window boxes and the quays bustling with life, all help to enchant the holidaymaker, many of whom choose to visit us year after year.
Fowey is not only a beautiful town with a fabulous history but also a thriving commercial seaport.
Situated on the opposite bank of the river, is the village of Polruan which is easily reached by the regular foot passenger ferry from Fowey. Further up the river there is a car ferry which runs between Fowey and Bodinnick on the other side of the river. The town's natural harbour is a haven for yachtsmen and attracts a multitude of sailing dinghies, yachts, schooners and motor launchers.
Fowey is a popular destination for holidaymakers and boasts an excellent selection of quality shops, galleries and restaurants. There is certainly something for everyone.
